Ladies I'm so glad you all loved my post on Facts you didn't know about Lakme`.Second in my series of "Facts You Didn't Know About Your Favorite Beauty Brands" is a brand with the catchiest of Taglines-

'Maybe she is born with it, Maybe its Maybelline'.  

Ever wondered how the brand got its name? Or what's the connection between "Wonder Woman" & Maybelline? No??!

No sweat, time to tighten up your seat belt and ready for a thrilling ride in to the history of this great beauty brand 'Maybelline New York'

1.The Maybelline Company was created by a young New York chemist Tom Lyle Williams in 1915. When a kitchen stove fire singed his sister’s lashes and brows.The 20 year old William, noticed his younger sister applying a mixture of Vaseline and coal dust to her eyelashes to give them a darker, fuller look.

He adapted it in his small laboratory (on borrowed $500)and produced a product sold locally called Lash-Brow-Ine.

So you must be wondering, that still doesn't explain the brand name. You see William's sister who was inspiration for this new invention was named Maybell.

So William decided to name the brand->Maybell + Vaseline=Maybelline.

Check out some of the oldest Ads for Lash-Brow-Ine. Notice the company name was Maybell Laboratories.

MY IRAYA HAUL

Hi to all the beauties out there. I hope you are having a great weekend. Last weekend I'd posted pictures of my Haul and so many of you wrote back to me eagerly asking all about my Iraya & Body shop Goodies.

Well I've spent the better part of my weekend with the Angel & Devil perched on my shoulders. The Angel of Restraint preaching virtues of righteousness and contentment & the Shopping Devil egging me on to splurge & feast... with sale season on in full blast & The Body Shop running up to 50% off sale...well ..we all know how that ended...

So here is all I snagged (after much counseling by the Angel of Restraint) ...Wild Cherry shower Gel, Aqua Lily Body Wash, Aqua Lily Body Lotion,Aqua Lily Body Mist & Born Lippy Passion Berry Lip Balm.

All items except the lip balm had 50% off and the Born Lippy Lip balm had 10% Off. So All this cost me only INR 1071/-, The Shopping Devil has been  goading me to snag some more stuff.. who knows I might make another trip to TBS while the sales lasts :)

Well I know that was quite a mouthful title for post, I was browsing through the Avon India's latest product brochure and the first product featured in the brochure are the latest Avon ultra color rich mega impact lipstick in some gorgeous intense shades. 

Something caught my eye and it was the sleek geometric cuts on the lipstick bullet and DING  it rang a bell in my head, I've seen this design before... but where could have I seen it after all these are new launches & none of regular brands have such stylish lipstick shapes...and suddenly like past life regression flashes of some high end luxury lipsticks (ones I've been lusting after) came to my mind Cle de peau Beaute lipsticks !!'
