The Big Fat Makeup Haul l!!!

So one of my Legen...(wait for it) dary- New year resolution was to trim down on my makeup spending...Ermmm one look at the haul pics below and you'd know it was an epic fail.

When I spread out all my recent makeup hauls together I realized it was just too much of serious eye candy. I went clickety-click like a possessed paparazzi who just spotted Kate in a bikini!

At the sight of so much makeup,my possessed look and my frenetic photography my Hubby's eyes turned big as saucers! I hurriedly explained that some of this stuff was sent by companies for review while most of this stuff was bought by me for my friend who is getting married soon and there is loads of stuff I'm putting together for my would be Sis-in-law! Hubby eyed my loot suspiciously and said "Really?! :P


Now for the greater good of womankind I decided to post these pics, feast your peepers on these pretties and tell me what are you lemming for?

Picked this snazzy clutch from Lifestyle recently, though haven't used it yet..Ladies (and fashion forward Gentlemen) any ideas on what to pair this with?
I've been pleasantly surprised by Lakme`, its been steadily climbing its way back in my vanity. This Lakme` Absolute Bi phase makeup remover is pretty awesome.

Picked these VOV Moisture vogue lip glosses from New Beauty center (NBC) for a cute friend (yep you all know her but I'm not allowed to spill the beans ;)
These are super pretty and piggy bank friendly,no wonder these are almost always sold out at NBC

Hi beauties,

Here are my favorite lipsticks and lipgloss swatches. I love to wear these lipsticks/lipgloss with Smokey as well neutral eye makeup. I wore these shades on lips one by one and clicked the picture. I have numbered the shades so as you guys easily relate the color with the products. So tell me how my lips are looking with these shades???? 

Note-My complexion is medium fair.

Product 1   -Revlon Color Stay Overtime Perennial – Lipgloss

What I like –     very pretty color

                        Stay very long

                        Lips looks very beautiful

                        Day and night wear

What I dislike – pricey

                        Feel sticky without transparent gloss

                        Smell chemically

                        Very very difficult to remove without makeup remover

                        (I have found the magic with Vaseline petroleum jelly and voila!!!)

Product 2   - Maybelline Water Shine Liquid Diamonds 10 Pink Ruby – Lipgloss

What I like –    Decent Price
                        very pretty color

                        Good staying power 2-3 hrs (I can expect only this from lipglosses)

                        Lips looks very beautiful

                        Day and night wear

                        Smells good

What I dislike –        None

Product 3   - Colorbar 030 Greek Godess – Lipstick

What I like –     very pretty color

                        Lips looks very beautiful with skokey eyes

What I dislike –        Feel little heavier on lips

                        Suitable for fair/medium fair skin tone.

                        Have to wear with lip liner

Colorbar I Glide eye liner pencil Amethyst Spark review, swatch

I glide eyeliners from Colorbar are my absolute favorites when it comes to high quality water proof,transfer resist,smudge proof eyeliners.


The i Glide pencil are and safe on the waterline,their smooth texture means one swipe gets full on color on your upper and lower lashline and you don't need to keep going back and forth with the eyeliner to get a smooth line.Only con is that because they are so creamy they tend to break off quite easily at the time of sharpening.

These come in a chic silver box packaging and have a shade swatch at the base of both the liner pencil and outer packaging. Priced at INR 399/-for an eyeliner pencil they tread the middle ground between budget and splurge for me.

Amethyst spark is a very unusual shade-its a jewel toned shade with shimmer and I often reach out for it when I want to perk up my eye makeup look with a combination of unusual shades.
I have worn it on my lower waterline, though the glitter is a bit gritty to wear on the waterline, it is perfectly safe on the lashline.

I LOVE doing up my eyes so it was pretty easy for me to decide what I wanted to swatch for IBC'S Swatch It-Win It! contest.

A frosty lemon-ish gold shade.  It is the perfect highlighting shade I have come across.

A frosty baby pink eyeshadow. It is also a good dupe of Mac Swish :D

MAC Heirloom Kohl pencil-Review,dupe and eye makeup look

MAC Heirloom Kohl pencil was released with  the M.A.C. Reel Sexy Limited edition collection and is described by MAC as a highly metallized greyed lavender.
Unlike the usual silver pencil which tend to have grey undertones this one has a hint of lavender and it works very well as an eye brightener.

When I received this pencil for review,initially I wondered if it will work on my eyes and skin tone.I payed with it  for a while,and when I tried using it for some eye makeup looks, I found this pretty useful.

It works beautifully to accentuate the eyes when used on inner corner, you can use this as an all over lid color and also apply a light swipe of it close to lashline and blend it to create a light wash of color on the lids.I feel it doesn't work quite as well as a liner on my lower lashline, the creamier kohl texture+my watery eyes= fast disappearing kohl!

Say Hello to juicy lips with Colorbar True Gloss Lip gloss in pink stain

Colorbar's True Gloss designers were not scrimping in the pigments department when they set out to create True Gloss, these intensely pigmented, glossy long wearing lip glosses are smoking H.A.W.T!!


I picked a neon bright hot pink shade called Pink stain. It has a slight hint of coral but its really a bright neon fuchsia.
Anybody else feels that the packaging reminds you of MAC Cremesheen lip gloss? Raise your hands please!!

Hot Pink Makeup Must Haves

Hot Pinks!!! If there is one shade every senorita needs in her makeup wardrobe its the bold bright hot pink.

Most of us recovering from our Peaches and Coral obsession have jumped right onto the Hot pinks! So here is a list of my favorite bright hot pinks to pep up your vanity :)

Is Colorbar copying MAC's product names?

Well I thought naming lipsticks would be probably one of the coolest jobs in the world to have- I mean I can imagine myself flipping through my Giant-book-of-Lipstick-names Plucking a word from here and one from there and french(ing) it up a bit and voila there you have it- "Sugar Kisses" or "Caramel Toffee" or 'Passion Pink" or something.. you get the general drift.
They say,Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...Don't believe me ? Ask Colorbar!

Just as our home grown Colorbar USA, has been stepping up to the plate and dishing out one hot product after another I was feeling mighty thrilled that finally an Indian brand has managed good bunch of products at nice price.Now Imagine my surprise when I spotted some lipsticks and shadows in colorbar named after some very popular MAC lipsticks.
At first it was a fleeting doubt but then I decided to do a bit of Nancy Drew style investigation.And lo & behold here's what I found-No less than 28 MAC lipstick and eyeshadows names appear to have been copied by Colorbar.

Most times the shades are not dupes, but 28 similar names was well too much of a coincidence, don't you think?

My two cents on the copycat debate-I love a budget dupe as much as next makeup addict, but that doesn't keep me off spending on high quality products I really like. 

Shakespeare summed up the name debate well when he asked "what's in a name?" At the end of the day quality matters and MAC remains gold standard when it comes to quality,style and sassy-ness. 

Colorbar has pleasantly surprised me of late with lots of really fabulous new launches and copycat names or not I find myself busting my wallet at Colorbar counters just as often as I do at MAC.

So I hand it over to you ladies to decide- Colorbar duping MAC names cool or not?
