Here's My Fun in The Sun Moment- Here is me trying to snorkel in the Andaman sea at Monkey Bay near Phiphi islands- Fun fact I dunno how to swim :P I know it was risque, but it was the most fun I ever had, the crisp sea breeze, the cool waters and beautiful colorful fishes! Ah I need a holiday :)

P.S.- Funny thing I had forgotten my sunblock for the Phi Phi island cruise and I had to buy one on board the cruiser (obviously with a hefty mark up!) & guess which one I ended up buying Nivea Sun SPF 50 PA++, No kidding :D

Teal & Golden Olive eye makeup Look & Top 3 ways to have fun when there is no electricity!!

I'm sure most of you like me in North & North-eastern India would have been/are still reeling under power outage. Well good thing about living in the Millennium City a.k.a as Gurgaon you get pretty used to regular & extended power failures.The city survives on power back-ups,so while the 4 Northern states pass the buck on who sucked most power outta the Power grid-Its business as usual here!  Go Gurgaon!!

Okay enough cynicism for the day!

Well the look I'm showing you here was result of one such major power outage a few days back here in Millennium city. Yeah I know sounds pretty crazy, well actually there is a little story behind this look.
At the peak of sweltering heat we experienced one of the worst outages here in Gurgaon, while the diesel gen sets in our colony coughed & spluttered and chugged on, many other colonies were not quite so lucky..Two of my young sis-in-laws came over at our place to spend the night and pretty soon before we knew it, things turned in to an all Girls slumber party!!

Yay! While I was tutoring my young Sis (who is still in college btw) on the difference between blending brush and shader brush and how to do a cut crease and apply gel eyeliner, we ended up doing this eye makeup look. As this looks was achieved in semi darkness and frequent flip flops by electricity, its not exactly perfection. Mea Culpa

IBC Sunday Food Fiesta- How to make Banoffee pie at home

 Hello my hasty puddings-Its a lazy Sunday & I'm starting a new Feature at IBC it's called Sunday Food Fiesta. 
Every Sunday I'll share a fun and easy recipe with all of you.No darlings fear not IBC is not turning into a food blog, but just when you need to convince your Dear Hubby why exactly you need, to have to,just gotta grab that zillionth eyeshadow or that new MAC lipstick from yet another Limited Edition collection, let's just say yummy food comes in handy :D

So today I'm sharing a recipe for one of my all time favorite dessert called Banoffee Pie-If you are wondering about the name. Well  just imagine soft sticky toffee crumbly pastry base and whipped cream with a hint of banana and a sprinkling of chocolates. Yes stuff the dreams are made off.

 
Prep time- 2-3 hours
Cooking time 25 mins
Freezing time- 2 hours
Serves 4 

What you'd need to make this yummy dessert


For the base
1 pack of digestive biscuits- I have used Mc Vities digestive biscuits
3 tablespoon melted Butter


For the filling
1 Can of condensed milk (I've used a Nestle Milkmaid can)
2 Ripe bananas

For the topping


200 grams fresh cream-I used Amul Fresh cream
1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence
2 tablespoon Icing sugar (vary as per your taste )


Few hours before you plan to make the banoffee pie put a closed can of condensed milk for boiling for about 2-3 hours. Make sure the can is completely submerged in water while it is being boiled.You can do this the previous evening and this stores well in the fridge for a few days.


Next Crumble the biscuits in a bowl, do not powder the biscuits too finely, coz we need a crumbly texture.

The Body Shop Tea Tree skin clearing facial wash

The Body Shop Tea Tree skin clearing facial wash had intrigued me for a long while as I had seen some of my friends use it. I have combination skin which is usually very well behaved, I also don't have a problem of zits,but as my T- zone gets quite oily and the high heat & humidity meant I needed some more heavy duty face wash.

This facial wash has a thin texture much like the regular TBS shower gels and is green in color, which is visually pleasing 'coz it invokes images of tea gardens of Munnar in my mind.The face wash has a very strong woody & camphoraceous aroma. This skin clearing facial wash is supposed to be suitable for blemished skin.

My own experience using this face was was quite underwhelming, while I loved the fresh woody aroma and cool (slightly tingling) sensation on my face while using the face wash, it didn't do much to remove excess oil from my face.Thankfully it doesn't dry up my skin or leaves it feeling stretched.

I have used it for past almost 10 days, I experienced breakouts on my face 2-3 days after using this.Considering I haven't changed my skincare routine except this one, it could have probably not suited my skin.
Also the tingling/ cooling sensation didn't bother me much, but if you have sensitive skin you might want to steer clear of this one.

The price is Rs 205/- for 60 ml & 250 ml is Rs 450/- which honestly is way more than I'd pay for a face wash.I picked this during the ongoing sale and at 50% off for 60 ml bottle.

Overall Thoughts- If you love using Tea tree oils in your skin routine, are a devout TBS fan or somebody who loves the heady woody-citrusy aromas in your skin care product then you could give it a whirl.
If you are somebody with acne / other skin blemishes & are looking for a solution for your skin woes then don't expect miraculous results after using this.This is an okay-ish face wash I might keep this for traveling purpose, but would I be re-purchasing it?- Nah! it didn't rock my boat

Sparkling Champagne Nails of the day

For the Pretty Princesses out there who want to enjoy some glamour dust on their nails here's  my very simple & chic Sparkly Champagne Nails of the Day.

Products used

• New U Mini champagne polish
• New U Mini clear polish
• Glamour Doll Eyeshadow's eye lights- holographic glitter in shade-Hollywood
• Fan brush

I've used two coats of the champagne polish as the base, once the base coats have dried up, I've applied clear polish on only half of my nail (starting from the middle of the nail to the tip), using a fan brush I've dusted some holographic glitter on each nail, keeping glitter concentrated at the nail tip. Once dry just finish off with some clear top coat & Ta-da You are ready flaunt your paws missy!

Kareena Kapoor's Heroine poster inspired eye makeup

So we all saw Kareena's latest posters from upcoming movie Heroine,with Bebo sprawled out on bed in a glam gold halter top and  golden brown shorts. Supposedly aping Mariah's sultry pose and flanked by Glossy Magz & Tabloid and a wine goblet thrown in for good measure to complete the Fallen Woman look.


Now I'm not mad over movies or fan crazed, but my interest was piqued by Bebo's super dramatic makeup.
She sports very angular, architectural brows which have obviously been filled out & worked upon quite a bit, 'coz they look totally unlike Bebo's natural brows.

Also the very dramatic eye makeup,heavily contoured cheeks and deep bordeaux lips look Glam albeit a tad OTT for the outfit she is wearing.

So as promised I wanted to take my Project 101 eye makeup looks out from the Cold storage and get back to doing makeup looks and I thought why not start with this one.

This look was incredibly confusing for me, not so much because of the technique,but 'coz Kareena is sprawled out and the picture is taken from an unusual angle, her eye makeup is visible from up-side down angle, plus the image above is so touched up & the lighting make it nearly impossible to make out the shades.

I cropped out Kareena's eye makeup from the pic above and rotated the image to get a clearer idea about the look.

Here's my version of the look, its inspired by Bebo's look in this poster, though I wouldn't call it an exact  copy,simply because I'm not sure about the shades Bebo is wearing and plus her pics show her eyes upside down and hence the outer corner shading gives the eyes a elongated shape in the pic.

To create the look I have used a neutral taupe shade all over my lids and lots of matte black on my crease and outer v, I've used a beige gold shade on my brow bone coupled with tons of kohl & mascara.

Glamour doll eyes-Eyeshadow Haul!

I'm into eye makeup and I also love colorful shades which lets be honest barring MACs & Inglots are scarcely to be seen in Indian brands.

I want a good variety of shades, good pigmentation and quality and obviously pocket friendly prices.Not many shadows lived up to my exacting standards.So for the second time I decided to haul a bunch of shadows from Glamour Doll eyeshadows.After all a Girls's gotta shop! I love the high fun quotient of GDE eyeshadows. I had bought 8-9 shades last time and ended up using so many of those in my Project 101 Eye makeup look.
