Rani Mukherjee inspired Smokey eye makeup tutorial

As promised- Here's the step by step tute of Rani Mukherjee inspired Smokey eye makeup, phew !! this took helluva effort to put together, hope you guys like it.

Products Used for this look
  • NYX HD eyeshadow base
  • Kryolan TV paint stick
  • MAC Cream color base Hush- used as a highlighter
  • MAC constructivist paint pot
  • Maybelline Chai Latte eyeshadow quad
  • Maybelline Colossal Kajal
  • Maybelline Colossal Mascara
  • Faces eye liner pencil in Metallic brown
  • KKCenterHK lashes (used half set), QVS lash glue

Before we start the tute- I'd like to apologize for the crappy picture quality, all these were clicked under fluorescent lighting and flash and hence the pics are not up to the mark.

Bare eyes- Plz ignore the dark circles and sleep deprived look :P
Apply eyeshadow primer on the lids and lower lashline to create a base for your shadows to stick to.
Next I used Kryolan TV paint stick / you can use any concealer and dab on the tiniest bit on the lids
Blend Blend Blend till you get a clean even base to start applying your eyeshadows.
Use a brush to apply MAC constructivist paintpot on the outer half of your lids and lower lash line. This is to create a darker base to lay  the power shadows on top.

You can skip the paintpot and alternately use a very soft and creamy dark brown eyeliner pencil and used a brush / your ring finger to dab on the color on your lids.

Use a dark brown eyeliner pencil to line your upper and lower lashline, I used Kryolan eyeliner pencil Brown
Use a short stiff brush to smudge and soften the brown eyeliner.
I used Maybelline Chai Latte Quad to create this look.Though the pigmentation is average in this palette,it is a good beginner palette for everyday use neutral shadows,
Use the nude color shade from the quad all over lid
Use the darkest brown shadow you have on your crease (I used Dar brown crease color from Chai Latte quad).
If you have smaller lid space / mono lids then preferably use a stiff short brush to give a stronger cut-crease effect.
Go back and forth on your crease with your brush to blend out the crease and lid color.
Use a black kohl pencil (I used Maybelline Colossal Kajal) and line upper lashline and lower waterline.Keep the line of kohl thicker towards outer corner, and thinner on inner corner of the eye.
Using a sponge tipped smudger or a stiff short eyeshadow brush, gently smudge the black kohl applied on upper lashline,do not blend it too much idea is to create a smokey effect, if you blend it too much it will look muddy.
I used MAC Cream color base in -Hush as a shimmery highlighter and topped it off with powder shadow, you can skip the cream color base and use the highlighter shade directly too.
Take the highlight shade (or any other shimmery neutral light eye shadow) to highlight the arch of your brows
Use an eye lash curler to curl your lashes before using mascara, this will help open up your eyes.
Apply two coats of mascara on upper & lower lashes, apply the second coat of mascara when the first coat is semi dry.If you want you can apply a set of false lashes after applying mascara.
Use a wet cleansing wipe and wipe off any eyeshadow fall out under your eyes, use concealer- I use MAC select sheer moisture concealer in NC 45 or Kryolan TV paint stick and set it with Faces Loose powder
Here's the final Look :)
Hope this helps those of you looking for everyday smokey eye makeup look :)
