Revlon Superlustrous lipstick Chocolate Velvet review, lip swatches

Remember the good ol days of makeup in India when any departmental store worth its salt had the holy trinity of makeup brands on display- Lakme, Revlon & L'oreal. Thanks to the entry of so many newer & International brands in India, now we girls have a whole wide variety of choice of makeup. While the competition has been slowly making inroads, it might be too early to bid adieu to the old (makeup) war horses.

In my experience Revlon Super lustrous lipsticks are one of the best drugstore lipstick formulations available in India.Infused with mega-moisturizers to seal in color and softness. These are nice and creamy, impart rich glossy color and stays put for 3 hours on my lips.

Chocolate velvet is a smooth creamy cocoa shade and its best suited for medium to dark skin tones. Its neutral muted looks make it a great everyday / work wear lippie. The pigmentation and the hydration is quite good in these lippies.

The packaging is simple and hassle free, the tube's cap comes with a clear window to view the shade.

Priced at INR 525/- these aren't exactly budget lippies and you can buy an Inglot lippie in similar price range, but the quality mostly makes up for the price.

My only gripe with these lippies is the smell. Mine has an odd waxy smell, which is odd considering its less than 1 year old (and had this smell when I bought it 6 months after its manufacturing date). Though I love the rich creamy cocoa shade I find the smell too overpowering.

Overall Thoughts- I quite like the Super lustrous formulation and am keen to check out more shades. If lippie smell is not a deal breaker for you then these are one of the best drugstore lippies out there.

Have you tried Revlon Super lustrous lipsticks? Which shade have you tried? Comment & tell :)

  3. I have this one , one of my favourite brown and it stays a longtime on me. It works wonders to my Indian look- heavy kohl, bindi and silver jhumkis. This lipstick is perfect for that.

    1. yes the price and the smell are both huge negatives for this range, though the product texture and range of shades is quite good. But with Inglot available at same price, I think I wud stick with Inglot
