Birds of Paradise inspired Eye makeup Step wise picture tutorial

Its time of the year to dare to wear the brightest shades in your eyeshadow palette and here's a look that combines all the hottest shades of the season, bold yellow, tangerine, peach and hot pink! Here's the detailed  tutorial of Birds of Paradise eye makeup Look.

Shades used- I chose 4 super bright shades from 120 eyeshadow palette for this look. Hot pink, bright yellow, mustard yellow & shimmery peach.
Products I used in this look, (I've reviewed most of these products on my blog, if you want to read more about them just hit the Search tab on my Blog.)
  • 120 Eyeshadow palette
  • Glamor Doll eyeshadow Island Chic
  • Coastal scents Hot pot-Buttercup peach (you can use any matte nude eyeshadow)
  • NYX HD Eyeshadow base
  • MAC select moisturecover concealer NC 45
  • Maybelline Hypercurl mascara
  • Half set of false eyelashes from KKCenterHK & QVS Eyelash glue
  • Lakme 9 to 5 eyeliner Jade
  • Revlon Colorstay eyeliner Blooming blue
  • Coastal scents & The Body shop Eyeshadow brushes
  • Sigma F 80 Flat top brush
  • Tiny strip of cellophane tape.

Step 1. Prime your eyes with NYX HD eyeshadow base. Use a sponge tipped applicator and apply the bright matte yellow shadow on the inner corner of the eye.

Step 2. Apply shimmery peach eyeshadow from the inner corner to the 2/3rd of your eyelid. Apply the shadows in a patting motion and do not sweep the shadows on.

Step 3. Take s small strip of cellophane tape and stick it on the back of your hand to reduce stickiness and apply it diagonally on the outer corner. This will help create a clean edge and allow create smudge free winged liner. Now apply mustard yellow eyeshadow on the outer corner of the eyelid.

Step 4. Use a crease brush or the sponge tipped applicator(depending upon your comfort) and apply the hot pink shadow on the crease area.Make sure you use light feathery strokes else the hot pink shadow will  overpower the look.

Step 5. Take a clean tapered blending brush and blend the hot pink shadow on the crease area in a back and forth movement, removing any harsh lines.

Step 6. Take a clean blending brush,( I'm using TBS blending brush) and blend the shadows on the lid. Always blend from the lightest shadow to the darkest and keep your brushstrokes in one direction else the shadows will look muddy.

Use a small eyeshadow brush and apply the same peach and mustard shadow on the lower lashline. This is how the shadows should look after blending.

Step 7. Line the upper lashline using Lakme` 9 to 5 eyeliner in Jade
Step 8. Now using a small shadow brush apply Glamor doll eyeshadow in Island chic all over the eyeliner. This is to intensify the eyeliner and make it last longer, if you want you can wear the eyeliner without topping it with Island chic shadow.

Step 9. Apply the nude eyeshadow on the brow bone and highlight, you can also use a shimmery nude for highlighting.
Create a winged edge on the outer corner with the liner pencil and also on the lower lashline.Remove the cellophane tape gently and blend away any harsh edges. This is how it should look.
Next apply kohl on your waterline, I'm wearing Revlon Colorstay in Blooming Blue, you can use a black kohl as well.
Step 10. Apply a half set of false eyelashes, and apply 2 coats of mascara to merge natural lashes with the falsies.
Step 11. Dust away any eyeshadow fall out under your eyes using a fan brush / cleansing wipe (if you have not already applied foundation). Apply concealer on the under eye area, to cover dark circles. Concealer is applied after the eye makeup to ensure no shadow fall out remains on the under eye.

Ta Da- Here's your finished Look!! Hope you enjoyed this picture tutorial. If you try out this look, do send me a pic, would love to know that you found the tutorial helpful :)

  7. Hi,

Please suggest how to apply pencil eyeliner..

The line gets uneven while keeping the eyes open.

How should I close one eye while applying pencil on the lid.

    Any trick?
