I have been hankering for a Sleek Makeup's lip
product ever since I read Pooja’s review on Sleek’s pout polish. When I checked
out their website, I saw these cute little tubes (little is an understatement) that
said pout paint. I read a few smashing reviews online and since I was going
through an orange phase (thanks, again to the Inglot 103 lipstick Pooja reviewed) I
decided to grab Sleek Makeup Pout Paint in the shade Lava.
Lava is a fiery, neon orange colour in the
tube and you need only a teensy weensy drop of it to spread on your lips. ‘FYI,
a little goes a long way!’ as it says on the tube. The texture of the paint is
thick but not sticky and doesn’t settle into lines. It’s not drying either so
your lips are kept hydrated.
Website
instructions on how to use Pout Paint: Using a tiny
bead of Pout Paint, smooth onto lips with your finger or a lip brush. Apply a
thin layer for a satin lipstick-like finish, or a thicker layer for a glossy
result. Use lip primer before applying it.
The pout paint comes in a tube that’s as
small as a lipstick and packs 8ml of the product. There’s a small nozzle at the
mouth that lets you collect a small amount at a time. You’d think that for the
quantity, it seems expensive but believe me, this tube will last for a long
time!
Ingredients: Polyisobutane, Polybutene, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil,
Beeswax, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Butylated Hydroxy Anisole,
Glycol Distearate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcic (Sweet Almond)Oil, Octyl Palmitate,
Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Squalene, Phenoxyethanol,
Ethylhexylglycerin and Fragrance. May contain: Titanium dioxide. Suitable for vegetarians. Not suitable for
vegans.
Price: $6.49 + $1.67 (shipping) but I got it on 20% discount so I paid
only $6.86. The delivery took a little over 20 days.
The colour: When I used it for the very
first time, it immediately reminded of the swatch Pooja did on the Inglot 103
lipstick but Lava is less bright as compared to the lipstick. Because of its
paint-like consistency and insane pigmentation, it provides an opaque coverage
with just one-time use. And if you use multiple dollops, it gives lips a pouty
appearance, so true to its name!
I tried it as a tint and think I will continue
it that way because too much of it makes me look a tad comical. The best way to
go would be using it as a tint during the day and going full blast at night.
Sleek Pout Paint Lava Used as a Tint
And here is a full face pictures to give you a better idea of how the shade looks on.
The paint lasts for a good 4-5 hours but
fades off with meals leaving an orange tint behind. The paint is devoid of any
shimmer or glitter, thank god for that.
My guess is this would suit dusky tones
more; might look a bit garish on fairer skin tones but if you carry this off,
who am I to opine!
Overall, I love the packaging, the texture
and the colour but since this is going to last me for a while, I am not sure
I’d buy it again.
