Clinique Chubby sticks-Have a kiss of color!

Have a Kiss of Colour!

Make lips the main attraction for Valentine’s Day by layering textures, adding dimension and a gentle iridescence. Get lips all dressed up and ready to shine for Valentine’s Day with luscious shades of Pink and Red.

Clinique’s Global Colour Artist Jenna Menard explains how.

Perfectly Prepped
“Lip prep and application is just as important as the actual lip stick. Before starting your makeup routine, be sure to use an exfoliator to remove any excess flaky skin on the lips. Rub the exfoliator on the lips in circles. Remove the exfoliator with warm water then apply lip balm to hydrate lips while you apply the rest of your makeup. Before applying lipstick, be sure to remove all lip balm.”

Free from Flaws
“When dryness is unavoidable and can’t be fixed in a short amount of time, a little dab of gloss or moisture on the lips will help deflect light, thereby masking the visual flakes. It can be the smallest amount of gloss or even be a lip treatment product rather than an actual lip gloss product. Using a lip treatment product will instantly help hid the flaws but also treat them.

Long Lasting Lip Colour
“Apply blot apply—that IS the trick. Using lip liner as a base color and layering a lipstick on top also helps the staying power of lip colour. And of course, using long lasting formulas will be your best trick for keeping your lips in place longest.”

Bold vs. Barely There
“If you want a precise bold lip, use a brush and perfect the lip line. For a more undone softer stated bold lip try softening the edges and keep it more as a stain than a traditional lipstick”, says Jenna. For nude lips, she adds, “This can be tricky, if you choose the wrong texture or shade. The key to a perfect nude lip is finding the right balance of a natural nude versus a full on colourless lip that tends to look chalky and dry. “

Break the Rules!
Jenna says, “I hear women all the time say ‘I would love to wear that lip color but I can’t wear it-it’s just not me.” YES YOU CAN! Anyone can look good in a bright lip you - have to own it and rock it with confidence. Have fun with lip colours and explore outside of your comfort zone.
