Have you ever craved for a makeup item for long and suddenly had a déjà vu moment and realized you already have a pretty good dupe sitting in your makeup stash?

Well it just so happens that I'd been lusting after MAC paint pots.I was looking for a smooth creamy nude for a wash of color on my eyelids.I had been unable to make up my mind whether to buy in Painterly (creamy nude) or Groundwork (Mid-tone neutral taupe in Satin finish).

Painterly is perfect for fairer skin tone but, on my NC45 skin it looks ashy.Groundwork looks gorgeous on its own but its deeper undertone mean it doesn't gives that wide awake look to my eyes.

So in the midst of my esoteric makeup blues, I was playing around with my Revlon Illuminance Creme Eyeshadow palette in Skinlights and suddenly realized Voila, all the shades I was looking for are right here in front of me!

DOES YOUR MAN SHARE YOUR BEAUTY LOTION POTIONS?

Hello Darlings, its a lazy Sunday afternoon & I was hankering my hubby to take me to the malls...He said "Sweetheart you've already shopped so much on the holiday".

So I made my cutest puppy dog face & said "But I didn't buy any makeup on my birthday, I wanna go to Inglot & MAC!"

Hubby said Ok we'll see in the evening...Awww  with my shopping plans heading downhill I decided it was time for some self pampering. So i scrubbed my face & slathered on some yummy Honey Face Pack from Beauty Buffet (review coming up soon) and flip through some girly magazines.

In walked my Dear Hubby & said "Can I also apply some scrub & pack?!"

Me-Huh I said "why do you want to put on face pack?"

Dear Hubby-"Well my skin's got so badly tanned"

Me-"Hmm but why should I share my beauty potions, when was the last time you got me any beauty goodie?"

Dear Hubby- "Well I did buy you some lipsticks"

Me- "Which ones ?"

Dear Hubby - "Well I don't remember which one but I bought you some from Inglot, also didn't I buy you some stuff from Body Shop"

Me-thinking to myself- Damn that one didn't work, he remembers all my makeup purchases, Ok so I gotta think of a way around this one & quick!

Me-" Ok so I'll let you use my Honey mask, but what do iI get in return"

Dear Hubby- "Ok I'll take you to Select City Walk at 4 pm, you can shop for makeup"

Yay Yippe Yay I did a nice little pirouette &  a High 5 later, sweetly offered to share my face pack.

5 QUICK STEPS TO CLEAN YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES

Makeup brushes are the most crucial beauty tools used everyday by us, but often we don't give them the pampering they deserve. So here are 5 quick tips to give your makeup brushes quick gentle cleaning to keep them soft & make them last longer.

If you are regular makeup use then you should try & give your brushes their weekly washes.

So lets get started- here's what you need to clean your makeup brushes

1. Gentle shampoo / baby shampoo

2. Lukewarm water

3. Wash basin / sink

4. Small mug / glass

5. Absorbent towel/paper towel

1.Take a glass /mug and fill up about 1 inch depth of lukewarm water,add 1 tsp /few squirts of gentle shampoo & soak the brushes.The bristles of your brush should be completely soaked, but water should not reach the ferrule.

IMPORTANT NOTE-The brush ferrule is the metallic part of your brush which grasps the bristles and binds it to the handle.This portion is glued to the handle. Do not let this get soaked with water at any cost. The glue can loosen up and your brush can break apart from the handle.

2.Soak the brushes for 15-20 mins, take them out one by one and start with the densest brushes as they usually accumulate most product /oil & dirt. (Do this step in the wash basin/ sink area) On the palm of your hand put few drops of shampoo and rub the brush bristles against your palm.You'll see the product built up wash away gradually from the bristles, do this step 2-3 times till the bristles appear thoroughly cleaned 
(Note the makeup residue can stain the wash basin ceramic, preferably do brush cleaning on steel sink)

3.Once you have rinsed your brush, pat dry gently on the towel.Lay it down flat on the towel/ paper towel to dry completely.Try and give shape to the bristles, while draining excess water. Do not put the brushes in brush holder to dry as water will trickle down to ferrule and loosen up the glue & damage your brush.

4.If you have BrushGuard (visit www.brushguard.com) then use it to ensure the bristles retain their shape while drying.You can also buy Brushguard from www.buyincoins.com

5.Let your brushes dry completely before using them. Drying time will vary depending on the density of bristles.Your brushes are now clean, soft & fluffy and ready for use.

MY VACATION BEAUTY HAUL!

My Holiday shopping hangover continues and there is a reason why they say 'Bangkok has them now'. So when you leave a beauty junkie shopaholic unleashed in Bangkok its a recipe for excess baggage & empty wallet!

So here's what I hauled up on my latest vacay! I snagged 10 pairs of shoes & sandals, 6 handbags, 3 wallets, 2 belts, a turquoise necklace, an oil painting, handmade paper lamps, fairy lights,souvenirs,decor items, few outfits and all these bath & beauty goodies.

Now the weird thing is I actually wished I'd shopped some more!!! Argh.. I know I sound like a greedy lil piggy but what to do Bangkok tempts the shopper in me to no end!

This time I had resolved not to buy color cosmetics, till I exhaust my current stash and I'm pretty happy that barring 1 lippie I didn't fall oFf the wagon.Though I swear it took all my self restraint not to go swiping my credit card after swatching all those NARS, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, Cle de Peau  Beaute makeup! Oooh I'm getting light headed just thinking about all that makeup.
