MAYBELLINE EXPERTWEAR EYESHADOW QUAD-CHAI LATTE

So who wants piping hot Chai-Latte- with a dash of cinnamon? Do  I see quite a few hands raised up?

With tempting name like Chai Latte and a promise for great neutral shades, hopes were bound to be high from this quad.

This palette is an old timer in my collection, though by the looks of it you can make out I haven't made much dent in it yet! This palette has 2 matte shades of taupey brown, one shimmery highlight color and a burnished bronzy-copper toned metallic crease color. Its a good neutral palette for daily use.

The packaging is simple and basic. The two sponge tipped applicators are not of much use though.
I like the way all 4 shades are labeled for Lid, Brow bone,Crease and Outer corner.

The shades are well pigmented. The matte shades have a nice velvet finish. The all over lid color would suit fairer skin tones better on duskier skin tones the lid color is barely discernible.

The metallic Crease color is gorgeous in the pan and in the swatches, but it doesn't blends too well with the rest of the shades. However it creates a very vibrant liner when mixed with mixing medium like Inglot Duraline.

The darker brown shade meant for outer corner can be used for creating dramatic smoky look which is a great breakaway from usual black smoky eyes.
Another thing to remember is that these have quite a bit of fall out and you also need to be careful about over blending the matte shades.

Here are the swatches without any base or primer.

Priced at INR 240/- for  4.8 grams, its available across Maybelline counters or you can buy these online from www.urbantouch.com.

Overall recommendation-Its a great beginner palette for those on a budget. For more exacting customers well you'd be better off looking elsewhere for a good neutral palette.

  1. This was a disappointment for me, it doesn't do well without a primer. But it is a cheap indulgence :D

  5. I bought this because of all the hype around it. I use it now & then, but it's a disappointment. The pigmentation is poor. The lid colour is just a shade darker than my eye lid & is barely visible. I definitely need a better neutral palette. Any suggestions?

  6. Tanvee-Could be a difference in packaging I bought mine long time ago. I've tried using it many times but somehow the lid color hardly shows up on my eyelids

Rakshnda-Thanks :) Agree the pigmentation needs to be better

  7. Poohkie- I bought this one 'coz the shades looked so pretty but yes its a bit of a disappointment.

One neutral eyeshadow set I have my eyes on is Inglot M3 Eyeshadow Trio its got beautiful shades and is buttery smooth. I'm waiting for Inglot stores to reopen after renovation coz I wanna snag some. Otherwise have read good reviews about NYX "Champagne & caviar" palette, might order one when Cherryculture puts upa sale

  8. The NYX palette is so pretty! I really wish Indian brands would get rid of their obsession with bright colours & shimmer & do more neutral palettes.
