Nivea Whitening Cell Repair & UV Protect Body Lotion Review

Nivea had recently launched their Whitening Cell Repair & UV Protect Body Lotion, which is specially developed for the need of Asian skin, offers 40 times higher Vitamin C concentration that works from deep within and repairs skin layer by layer to recover skin's white tone.
A skin whitening craze has been sweeping Asia, blame it on the cultural & colonial hangover, but 'Whiter is Better' mantra is deeply ingrained in our psyche.
Considering we Asians (Indians included) spend over $18 Billion a year on whitening products, its no surprise to find more and more Whitening products getting launched everyday.
Personally I steer clear of the products promising the 'doodh si safedi'
Geez !! imagine what would i do,if I was to wake up one day and realize, I've turned pasty white like a Vampire?? (well so long as I've Robert Pattison as my arm candy I wouldn't even mind being a Vamp though;K-Stewart you have been a bad bad girl breaking my favorite eye candy's heart! )
Sorry I digress, with the Vamipre love story, coming back to being pasty white-What would happen to all my makeup?!
I mean how will I ever wear all my favorite foundations, concealers, and hot pinks lipsticks and juicy corals lip glosses that looks so good on my dusky skin?!! Nahii.. I cant leave my makeup no not even for R- Patz!

Okay so Nivea's PR team was kind  enough to share Nivea Whitening Cell Repair & UV Protect Body Lotion for review with me.I sat on the fence for a while whether to try it out or not?
Hubby Dear calls me his Caramel candy & I honestly I don't wanna turn white.... But you know what, beauty blogging is hard work and somebody's gotta do it. So for the greater good of womankind I decided to give it a whirl.

NIVEA Whitening Cell Repair & UV Protect Body Lotion has a innovative fast absorbing formula with unique Super Fruit extracts - Acerola Cherry and Camu Camu - repairs accumulated damaged dull skin and boosts skin's natural barrier to fight sun induced skin damage for radiant skin. Its advanced UVA/UVB filters protects your skin from UV - rays, which induce pigmentation and causes dark and un-even skin.

The packaging is pretty sleek and functional-it comes with a flip cap which closes firmly and doesn't cause any spillage even while traveling

The Ingredients-
It contains Camu Camu & Acerola Cherry, both of which are renowned for their very high Vitamin C content.

I like the light refreshing fragrance, it smells faintly of berries. The light fluid texture means it is absorbed very quickly by the skin without leaving any greasy feeling. My skin instantly feels smooth to touch and very supple.

It provides optimum hydration to the skin which lasts for over 7-8 hours.Though specially dry parts like elbows and feet I found them turning dry & needed a re-application after 4 hours
It mildly reduced the tanning on my arms but it didn't dramatically alter my skin  though on my arm the skin which is usually covered by my wrist watch and my engagement ring (You know the light patch you get in the areas less exposed to the elements) looks more even now that I have been using it for almost 3 weeks

I had started with this lotion with quite a few apprehensions, thankfully it works beautifully on my skin, I still have my caramel complexion, but it feels more radiant of late :)

Manufactured in Thailand, priced at Rs 225/- for 250mL.I feel the pricing is pretty good for the quality.

Overall Thoughts-Nivea's Whitening Cell repair & UV protect body lotion is a light body lotion suitable for Summers and Monsoons.
Buy it, because its a light soothing body lotion which leaves the skin hydrated and refreshed and is perfect for humid weather.
Don't expect it to turn you into Snow white & you'll be very happy with how well it works for the skin.I plan to repurchase this for sure,'coz I look forward to applying this in the morning.

  3. "So for the greater good of womankind I decided to give it a whirl."

How kind of you :P hehehehe

But I always thought body scrubs or other forms of dead-skin removal (such as waxing) did a better job of removing a tan than using a lotion - your thoughts?
